안녕하세요 교수님. 이번에 4학년이 되는 학생입니다.
저는 올 해 한영과 시험을 준비하고 있습니다. 계속 독학을 하다가 두 달 전부터는 학원을 다니면서 열심히 공부하고 있습니다.

전공이 통번역학과인데다가 사실 여러 행사나 사무실에서 통역 경험이 몇 번 있습니다. 토익도 만점이고 다른 영어 자격 시험들도 높은 성적을 받았습니다. 주위에서 영어 진짜 잘한다는 소리도 많이 들었습니다. 그런데 제가 그 흔한 한 달 짜리 해외 어학연수, 교환학생, 유학 경험이 없는 순수 국내파입니다. 그래서 그런지 글쓰기 시험이 너무 두렵습니다..

학교에서 글쓰기 수업을 할 때 외국에서 살다온 친구들 글을 보면 정말 어떻게 이런 표현을 썼지? 라는 생각이 들 정도로 고급 표현들을 많이 쓰더군요. 그에 비하면 제 글은 중학생 수준으로 보였습니다. 실제로 학원에서 선생님이 말씀하시길, 외대 전형이 바뀌면서 해외파에게 훨씬 유리하게 바뀌었다는 것을 듣고 또 한 번 좌절했습니다.

이미 해외 경험이 있는 사람들을 이길 수 있는 방법이 없다는 것은 잘 알고 있습니다. 하지만 어떻게 하면 여러 글 중에서 제 글이 조금이라도 반짝일 수 있는 글을 쓸 수 있을까요? 정말 문법만 틀리지 않는다면 일말의 가능성이라도 있을까요? 너무 힘들고 답답해서 이렇게 교수님께 질문드려봅니다.

왜 해외 경험이 있는 사람들을 이길 수 있는 방법이 없다고 생각합니까? 여러 글 중에서 제 글이 조금이라도 반짝일 수 있는 글을 쓰려면 문법에 맞고, 적절한 어휘를 쓰고, 문장이 논리적이면 됩니다. 해외/국내파 문제가 아닙니다. 지난 입시 영어 에세이에서도 첫 문장 "One of the most important theory..."라고 쓴 사람은 떨어집니다. 복수 theories라고 써야지요. 그게 해외/국내파 문젠가요? 기본소양의문제지요.... .
