안녕하세요?

이 사이트를 처음 방문했을때 §공감대§를 느낄 수 있었습니다. 영어라는 한정된 주제가 아니라 사람들의 열정과 고민을 솔직하게 털어놓는 장소인듯 합니다.

저는 벌써 직장을 한번 옮기고 지금은 두번째 직장도 그만두었습니다. 그동안 사회생활을 너무도 모르고 시작한 듯합니다. 영어를 좋아해서 해외영업에서 근무했지만, 저의 갈증을 해소하지 못 했습니다. 일찍 퇴근하면 술자리에 꼭 참석해야 했고, 평소 집에 도착하면 12시가 넘었습니다. 집과 직장을 오가며, 가족과 이야기할 시간도 없었고 자기발전을 위한 공부도 하기 힘들었습다. 어느날 공허함이 몰려와 걷잡을 수 없었고 지금의 상태에 이르렀습니다.

지금 사회진출을 처음 준비하는 분들께 드리고 싶은 말씀은 다음과 같습니다.

(1) 자신이 무엇을 좋아하고 소질이 있는지 분명하십시오. 그리고 구체적인 목표를 세우십시오.

- 저도 처음에 확실한 줄 알았습니다. 그러나 누군가 §당신의 적성은 무엇입니까?, 적성이 무어라고 생각하십니까?, 당신의 인생의 목표는 무엇이고 구체적인 계획이 있습니까?§라고 물어 보았을때 확실한 대답이 나와야 합니다.

사회생활을 많이 한 사람들은 적성을 비웃더군요. 확실한 신념이 없다면, 이런 사람들과 동화 될것입니다.

(2) 성공의 정의를 명확히 하십시오. 너무 비교하지 마십시오.

- 성공의 뒤에는 구슬땀이 있습니다. 그러나 저는 아주 단기내 성공하고 싶어했습니다. 어리석지만, 빨리 성공하고 싶었습니다. 처음부터 좋은일, 남들이 알아 주는 일을 하고 싶어 안달냈습니다. 심지어 소위성공한 사람들과 나이를 비교했습니다. §어~~, 제는 나보다 어린데...나는 도데체 뭐하고 산거야? 혹시 모자란건 아닐까?§라고 생각하며 깊은 좌절감을 느끼곤 했습니다. 성공 뒤의 구슬땀과 험한길을 잊지 마싶시오.

그리고 과연 성공이란 무엇이라고 생각하십니까? 저는 자신이 사랑하는 일을 하고 만족한다면 그것이 성공한 삶이라고 생각합니다. 그러나 자꾸 비교하게 되더군요. 남들에게 보이기 위한 성공보다는 자신이 만족하는 성공이 오래간다고 생각합니다. 저도 노력해야 할 부분이지요.

(3) 준비되면 도전하싶시오. 도전해서 실망하나 도전조차 하지 안고 실망하나 마찮가지 입니다. 그러나 도전하지 않고 망설이다 실망하고 만다면, 항상 미련이 따라다닙니다. 저는 후자의 경우입니다. 주변의 상황을 지나치게 고려하다가 볼일 다 보는 경우가 많았습니다.

영어를 좋아한다고 무작정 목표없이 공부하지 말라고 권하고 싶습니다. 영어는 단지 여러분의 풍요로운 생활을 위한 도구 입니다. 좀더 자신의 인생을 놓고 크게 보십시오. 그리고 좀더 구체적으로 생각하세요. 자신이 하고 싶은 업종과 부문이 결정되면 일하고 싶은 어느 특정 회사를 목표로 세우고 체계적으로 준비하는것이 어떨지 생각합니다. 예를 들어서 신문사 코리아헤럴드에 들어가고 싶다면, 독자란에 글도 계속 보내고 적극적으로 회사도 찾아가서 조언도 듣고 할 수 있잖아요. 저도 빨리 힘을 회복해서 다시 적극적, 도전적으로 저의 인생을 행복하게 할까 합니다. 여러분 모두에게 권투를 빕니다.
